It’s a five-peat for the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles as they defeated the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 75 Finals held Thursday, October 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.


The Blue Eagles finished the game with 65-62, winning their fifth straight UAAP men’s basketball title.
The first half of the most awaited game ended with tied scores, 29-29. The Blue Eagle’s controlled the first quarter of the game thanks to Kiefer Ravena who scored nine points early on. Growling Tigers’s Kim Lo entered the game and help his team gain some grounds. He scored eight points causing the Growling Tigers to lead the first quarter, 14-13.
After both team exchanged baskets, baseline jumper Karim Abdul put the Growling Tigers ahead, 29-26. Thanks to Ravena and Greg Slaughter’s free throws, the Blue Eagles tied the first half of the game, 29-all.

Many consider veteran point guard Juami Tiongson of the Blue Eagles as the one who came up with the biggest plays of the game due to his clutch jumper that put his team on the lead. With 1:12 to go, Tiongson scored and lead Ateneo, 62-58. With less than five seconds remaining, he then stole the ball from the Growling Tigers and sealed the win for the Blue Eagles.
After scoring 19 points per game in the series, the Blue Eagle’s forward Nico Salva was named Finals MVP.
The Blue Eagles won the first game held last Saturday, October 6 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, scoring 83-78. Today, the Blue Eagle lead the tight game, scoring 65-62.
