The Malacañan Palace announced that voters only have until October 31, 2012 to register at their respective Commission on Elections (COMELEC) offices.
The government encourages everyone to register to be able to vote for the upcoming election next year. We at Energize Pinas also believe that it is essential for every Filipino to practice their right to vote. As the Palace stated, your vote can help “make public servants accountable.” Your vote can lead to the success and growth of the country – to more classrooms built for Filipino children, to building more roads and infrastructures, to aiding the improvement of the lifestyle of the less fortunate, to helping our farmers gain back their land, and many more.
You are a qualified applicant if you are a Filipino Citizen and at least 18 years old. You should be a resident of the Philippines for at least one year. You should also be a resident in the area where you will vote for at least six months preceding the election.
With this, Energize Pinas gives you five simple steps on how you can register and be able to vote:
COMELEC Registration Step 1:
Inform the Election Officer that you want to register. Don’t forget to bring one valid ID with your photo and signature.
COMELEC Registration Step 2:
Fill out the application form. Make sure all of the information you put are valid and true.
COMELEC Registration Step 3:
The Election Officer will collect your biometric information such as digital image, finger print, and signature.
COMELEC Registration Step 4:
The Election Officer will issue an acknowledgment receipt. Do not lose this receipt as it proves that you already registered as a voter.
COMELEC Registration Step 5:
Wait for the confirmation that your application has been approved.
